Printing
You can install a printer by visiting the iPrint printer page. This webpage contains all of the printers in the resource rooms around the ANU College of Law.
Upon clicking a printer icon, a pop-up window might appear telling you that The iPrint Client is not installed. Do you want to install it now? with OK and Cancel buttons. You'll need to click on the Cancel button here as the iPrint Client is already installed on your machine by default.
When you click on Cancel, you should notice a faint yellow bar that drops from the top of the window, asking you to install ActiveX Control. Click on this bar and choose Install ActiveX Control from the little drop-down menu that appears. Another window will appear asking Are you sure you want to run this? Click on Yes; it will bring you back to the printers page where you will need to click the printer icon again to install the printer.
If you have any troubles with installing your printer, let the IT & C Unit know about it and we can help you out.
It would be best to ask the Services Office to print large documents, or a large number of documents. If for some reason you can't get a hold of them (eg after hours) make sure that the document that you are printing is set to Double Sided printing in the Preferences menu (see below) and that Collating is turned on.
First of all, make sure you have saved your work before printing anything, just in case something happens in the process and you lose your work.
Next, instead of just clicking the little Printer icon to print your document, go to File > Print. This will bring up a separate window which will let you select the printer you want to use, change the number of copies you want to print, and/or if you want to specify what pages you would like to print.
If you would like to change whether the printer will print your document double-sided or single-sided, click the Preferences/Properties button. In the next window, there are a few different tabs that you can choose from which include changing your document to print single-sided and/or change the size of the paper on which it will be printed.
The IT & C Unit will replenish paper for a printer if it runs out. Please DO NOT find paper elsewhere (eg photocopiers, loose paper) and try to refill it yourself.
If the IT & C Unit hasn't yet noticed that the printer is out of paper, feel free to give the Helpdesk a call and let them know. Otherwise, please be patient as someone will be on the job very soon.
