Participation
Importance of participation
Your involvement in this study is very important. To build an accurate picture of law graduates, the study requires responses from a broad and representative cross-section of law graduates. By taking part, you will provide insightful information on topics relating to legal education and training, as well as the nature of work performed by law graduates. We hope that the results from the study will be used by a range of bodies to inform and improve legal education and training to ensure the needs of law graduates are met, as well as guide workplace policy, thereby improve the quality of your employment.
Participants
Everyone who completed a law qualification with an Australian education provider between 1991 and 2010 (inclusive) has been invited to participate in the study. By taking part in the survey, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are part of an important study that will help us understand and better meet your employment needs as well as the the needs of current and future law graduates.
Voluntary participation
Participation in the Australian Law Graduates Career Destinations Survey is completely voluntary and you can choose to stop answering the questionnaire at any time. However, we hope that you can take part in and complete the survey. Your response is important for helping build an accurate picture of the education, training and work of law graduates.
Current career status
You don't need to work in the legal profession to participate in the study. We are interested in the experiences of ALL persons who completed a law qualification between 1991 and 2010 (inclusive) including those working outside the profession and those who are not working. This will allow us to build an accurate picture of the diversity of career paths followed by law graduates and the range of skills they use.
Your response is vital for ensuring that we can accurately answer questions such as how many law graduates do not enter the legal profession, how many law graduates enter but subsequently leave the profession, and when do they leave and why. Your response will help us understand the needs of all law graduates, not simply those who work in traditional legal positions.
30 minutes of your time, online
You will be asked to complete an online survey, which includes questions about your education, training, and work, as well as questions on selected demographic characteristics. For most people, the survey will take 30 minutes to complete.
Answering questions in the survey
It is necessary to answer each question in one sitting in order to move through and complete the online survey. Please answer each question as best you can.
Help us to help you
To help us get the best response, please encourage your friends and colleagues who have been awarded a law qualification to contact their educational provider and give them their e-mail contact.
