Objectives

The main aims and objectives of this study are to identify and understand the:

  • diversity of career pathways followed by law graduates
  • skill sets used by law graduates in a range of work settings
  • factors that influence the career outcomes of law graduates, including factors leading gender differences in career outcomes as well as factors affecting recruitment and retention in rural, regional and remote areas
  • changing nature of work.

The Australian Law Graduates Career Destinations Survey will collect data on a broad range of issues that may be of interest to other researchers.

Benefits

  • the legal profession
  • legal and non-legal educators

The information provided by the study may also dispel myths about law, legal education and the legal profession.

Overview

The Australian Law Graduates Career Destinations Survey will investigate the education, training and careers of law graduates.

The survey results will be used to identify and understand the diversity of career pathways followed by law graduates, the skills used by law graduates in a range of work settings and factors that influence their career outcomes of law graduates.
