The main aims and objectives of this study are to identify and understand the:

• diversity of career pathways followed by law graduates
• skill sets used by law graduates in a range of work settings
• factors that influence the career outcomes of law graduates, including factors leading gender differences in career outcomes as well as factors affecting recruitment and retention in rural, regional and remote areas
• changing nature of work.

The Australian Law Graduates Career Destinations Survey will collect data on a broad range of issues that may be of interest to other researchers.

The results of the Australian Law Graduates Career Destinations Survey will benefit a number of people and organisations including:

• the legal profession
• legal and non-legal educators
• legal education providers
• university marketing and alumni departments
• current and prospective law students
• government.

The information provided by the study may also dispel myths about law, legal education and the legal profession.
